Online Shopping for the Frugal Shopper

Online Shopping for the Frugal Shopper
Shopping is one way to relieve stress. Too bad it can be so expensive. If you don’t find anything to buy, you will still spend money — on gas. Save both time and money by making your next shopping purchases online.
Online shopping is no longer the wave of the future; it is the wave of now. People still pack the stores during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday, but a larger number of people are sitting at their computer and shopping with no long lines in the checkout. Merchants who sell products online have also made the system safer for customers to buy without fear of identity theft or fraud.
When time is tight, shopping online is easy. You can shop when the regular stores are closed. If you get the urge to look for camping gear at three o’clock in the morning, the online store is open. Shopping is convenient at any time of the day or night. Online, time can be your friend, not your nagging enemy.
And, these are not obscure stores. Major chains that you frequent have online stores, too. Wal-Mart, K-mart, Target, and Toys ‘R Us has an online presence where customers can find items that aren’t sold in the store. Better still, if you can’t find it in the store, it may be available online.
The biggest online marketplace is eBay.com. You can buy anything you can think of on this site. Buy and sell cars, homes, vacation packages, airline tickets, merchandise, and services. EBay is first and foremost an auction house. You can bid on any items you like and get it at below market cost.
Online stores like Overstock.com offer deals on shipping. Shipping charges are why some people don’t shop online. Why should I shop online and pay shipping and handling when I can go to the store and avoid the extra cost? This is a good point. At Overstock.com, they will ship as many items as you want for only $2.95 shipping and handling. You can’t beat that when you are an armchair shopper.
Have you ever bought something at one store only to get home and find it advertised cheaper at another store? Been there and done that. Online, you can go from website to website comparing the prices of as many items as you want. There is no need to waste gas driving from store to store.
Online shopping can help you find an item that is not in the store at no extra cost. Places like Circuit City have the option of finding an object online and having it delivered to the store. This way, you pay online but avoid shipping and handling charges. Take your receipt to the store and pick up your merchandise.
Online shopping is easier and safer than it used to be. An ambitious person can save money on virtually everything.
